During the first eight months of 2023, vehicle production increased by 15.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a total of 1,613,618 units manufactured for the year as a whole. These data point to a recovery path, although the volume manufactured is still 14.8% lower than in 2019.
Notable growth was achieved in July with the manufacture of a total of 204,142 units, an increase of 34% compared to the same month in 2022. August, on the other hand, recorded a 17.9% drop compared to 2022, with a total of 91,837 units produced. This volatility in the monthly variation rates is due to the recovery of normality in the supply chains in the factories with respect to 2022, when they were greatly affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
By type of vehicle, the production of passenger cars, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 37.7%, in July, with 161,001 units; and decreased by 24.9% in August, with 71,417 units. On the other hand, the production of commercial and industrial vehicles recorded increases in both months: in July by 21.9%, with 43,141 units; and in August by 21.8%, with 20,420 units.
